Day 15 - 5/29/2001 - Day of Florence (and ice cream!)

Weather: HOT and clear
Location: Florence, Italy

We started our day window shopping! I even bought a nice T-shirt for Pop-pop and Hilary picked up a few magnets for our fridge.

We walked by the "Duomo". We're going to visit that tomorrow, though.

We went in the "Church of the Cross" to see the tombs of Michelangelo, Dante (whose body isn't really there), and Galileo.

After that, we headed to what I call, the Shopping bridge. It was a pretty bridge, with a great view! It's real name is the "Ponte Vecchio" and most of it's stores were jewelry stores. I can imagine the price of real estate on that bridge is pretty expensive!

Anywho, Hilary and I next headed out to "Piazza de Pitti" to see the "Bobboli Gardens" (like the pasta).

The gardens were mostly shrubbery with beautiful statues placed throughout the place (except for this guy. He let himself go). There was a central pond that had more fish in it than water! We tossed crackers in to see a mass of fish tumbling over each other in the water!

After that view, we decided to get a better one by going to the "Piazza de Michelangelo"

After that, we had our nice dinner in Florence by going to an outdoor cafe where I had this great Ham and Melon salad. It was really fresh!

Also, I forgot to mention that we went to *the* best ice-cream place in the world! Hilary and I each had 5 scoops just to taste as many flavors as possible! The name of the place was "Vivoli". We both felt kinda sick afterwards and we both pledged to go on diets when we went home! =)
