5/16/2001 - 6/3/2001 Jason Victor Day 12 - 5/26/2001 - Travel Day and Day of "Stoner Mike" Weather: Warm and mostly sunny! Location: Venice -> Rome
The "Stairway of Giants" ---->
We walked through the bridge of Sighs, saw the prison, then we came to Rome! It's exactly as I left it! =) Except I realized there was so much more to see! But! First things first. We want to our hotel and to our surprise, we're not actually in Rome, but rather, "Rome East" which is a $12 taxi ride either way out. But it's a nice room in a Holiday Inn, so we can't complain. We met up with a college group from Virginia and they recommended a Pizzeria around the corner from our Hotel, so we go ... and we met a bunch of students from this Virginia art college. Most memorable among them is a guy named Mike, who we chatted with extensively while waiting for our pizza (for 2 hours!) He was a nice guy and we talked about Amsterdam (thus the nick-name "stoner-Mike"), and about our travels, exchanging travel tips, etc. After that, we knew we had a big day ahead of us, so we called it a night. Tomorrow ... we conquer Rome! ... so to speak.
