Day 5 - 9/13/2002 - Won't you take me to …. China Town!

Weather: Awesome!
Location: Oahu, Hawaii

We got up a little later this morning (8:00 am). I'm going to get used to this time zone just in time for us to go home! :(

We went to China town and tried to take a walking tour. I was pretty bored because all of the attractions that Fromers (hereafter referred to as "the book of lies") said that were good but weren't really.

One thing that was interested was the market. There was a pig's head on a scale!

We stopped at a small Chinese restaurant off the beaten trail for some brunch, and we thought it would be good, but it was God-awful! Plus, this two-year-old kid (who was really cute) kept banging on a chair with chopsticks like a drum. I think he was wise beyond his year, though, because he went behind Hilary and grabbed a two-year-old handful of her behind! It was hysterical!

I was a little dizzy from the meal. It possibly could have been from MSG or the "mystery meat" in the dish. After seeing the pig's face in the market, it was all I could think the meat was!

Once we pulled ourselves together, we walked up to the botanical gardens. This was amazing! They had the most unique trees! Some of the biggest I have ever seen, too! The most impressive was the "Bo" tree. It was related to the original "Bo" tree that Buddha sat under when he received enlightenment. This tree is the "grandson" of that original tree.

After the gardens, we walked back to the car and got Hilary a lei. We drove back to the hotel, changed into our swimsuits, and headed to the Internet café. After deleting all of my junk e-mail, I was on my way! We spent the rest of the day on Waikiki beach. The water is so warm! It was like a bath! It was such a wonderful afternoon.

After we had to return the rental umbrellas and chairs, we went poolside and partook in more free appetizers and some drinks. We went into the hot tub one last time and met up with Mark and Meg (we met them on Tuesday (see day 2)).

After the hot tub, we showered and went back to the beach to see the Friday night fireworks! They were cool! There were flocks of people from all over to see them.

Then we made a run for "Todai," an all-you-can-eat sushi place. Here's a tip: never go to an all-you-can-eat buffet when you're full of appetizers! We couldn't eat that much, but it was pretty good. It was expensive, though.

I forgot the shirt that I bought at the restaurant and had to go back to get it. Oh! And I bought some cortisone for my bee sting (which still itches). :(
