Day 4 - 5/18/2001 - The Day of Laundry and Louvre

Weather: The same (less rainy)
Location: Paris, France

We began our day at the Louvre (the biggest art museum I've ever seen!) They had a giant glass pyramid outside, so I took lots of pictures of it It used to be a palace.

Huge! They had tons of Greek statues including the famous Venus de Milo and "The Winged Victory of Samothrace" [64]

We also saw tons of famous paintings by Rafael, Michelangelo, and other ninja turtles.

We even saw the Mona Lisa! She was sad when Da Vinchi was painting her, so he brought in a bunch of clowns and street performers, but it was only enough to make her smirk. She has lost a child, so she wasn't feeling up to smiling.

Anyway! The garden outside the Louvre was beautiful! We took pictures outside and on the "Champ-E'lyses!"

We saw a Compact car!

We saw the "l'obelisque" (a gift from Egypt to Paris

Hilary bought a dress in a store on the Chaps-E'lyses! She wore it to dinner.

We stopped at a "Choclataire" and got our fill of "Chocolat" for the year.

We ended our long walk at the "L'arc de Triumph"

We headed home, did our laundry, hit an internet cafe and went to our last dinner in Paris! It was very French! (and not too expensive, which is good).

I had some great duck. Hilary: fish. Hilary had "Crème Broulet" for the fist time. I had "Tarte Tatin" (apple pie, pretty much). It was great. We got dressed up and everything!

We have to get up early tomorrow for the trip to Amsterdam, so I'm going to hit the hay!

When I wake up tomorrow, we'll be on our way to the land of windmill's and dykes!

~fin~

PS: I don't know how to say "done" in Dutch, so it'll be an interesting ending to the journal tomorrow.
