Things I have learned in Hawaii:

  • If you feel an earthquake or hear a Tsunami warning siren, head for higher ground immediately!

  • "Mahalo" means "Thank you" in Hawaiian.

  • "Taro" is a type of plant that tastes like a potato and is used to make "poi."

  • When Mike Meyers said, "Pass the poi, mahalo," in Wayne's World, he was actually saying something!

  • Volcanoes can ooze lava without an explosion from the top

  • Mai Tai's are good! (But only if you don't order them at Duke's.

  • "Puna" means "hole"

  • Hilary learned to fear lava

  • If you're going to build a paradise resort, make sure you're not building it on an ancient Chinese burial ground first.

  • If you say, "it's our honeymoon" you get free stuff!

  • You can only see lava flows at night, unless you order one at a bar

  • You cannot win back the cost of your trip in Vegas.

  • If you only lose $7.75 in Vegas, you're really a winner

  • 1000 feet really isn't that high.

  • Never go to an all-you-can eat sushi buffet when you're not hungry.

  • Our plane is here. (Bye! :) )

  • Planes take a long time to get ready before take-off!
